Alabama Motor Express Selects IDSC's Expert Fuel to Minimize Fuel Costs and Trip Alert to Manage Driver Hours of Service and Maximize Driver Time at Home
01.15.2007 Richardson, TX -

Integrated Decision Support Corporation (IDSC), a leading provider of decision support software exclusively for the truckload carrier, welcomes Alabama Motor Express, Inc. as a new customer of the Expert Fuel® and Trip Alert® decision support solutions. Alabama Motor Express operates 325 power units delivering superior truckload service from coast to coast. Alabama Motor Express has been an IDSC Netwise EnterpriseŽ customer since 2001.

"We plan to utilize IDSC's solutions to significantly decrease fuel costs as well as maximize efficiency, driver satisfaction, security and customer service," said Rodney Holland, Administration Manager for Alabama Motor Express, Inc.

Expert Fuel is the leading fuel optimization solution designed specifically for truckload carriers and is proven to minimize fuel costs and out-of-route miles. Drivers receive a fuel plan at the time of dispatch that tells the driver to buy the maximum number of gallons where fuel is cheap and the minimum where fuel is expensive. Fuel plans are generated using best-in-class fuel pricing/routing data and IDSC's unique algorithm to calculate all essential factors?in real-time, and in a matter of seconds. All relevant route and vehicle factors are considered in the solution including: current fuel prices, fuel level, vehicle fuel consumption, state tax implications, fuel network implications, out-of-route miles, route policies, terminal fueling policies, tank fill policies, and driver amenities.

Trip Alert exception alert software monitors the power unit along the entire trip ensuring that the driver is taking the most efficient and safe route to the customer. Managers have visual status of their entire fleet at-a-glance coupled with the ability to zoom in on a specific power unit. Historical and real-time reporting capabilities offer the information necessary to optimize driver and fleet performance. Trip Alert also identifies swap candidates which allow the dispatcher to exchange loads in-transit in order to minimize service failures while maximizing equipment utilization and driver time at home.

"Expert Fuel is proven to save carriers significantly in fuel costs whether fuel prices are high or low by taking advantage of the variation in fuel prices. Trip Alert not only provides global visibility of capacity and best-in-class exception and event management--it also increases driver time-at-home without impacting profit potential. Trip Alert automatically identifies the locations and times when two power units will be feasible to swap load assignments. Trip Alert recommends those swap opportunities which improve utilization, on time performance, and driver home time. Trip Alert provides built-in capabilities to identify candidates for in-transit swaps--leveraging the data to maximize driver and equipment utilization, prevent service failures, and increase driver time at home," said Dave Harris, VP of Sales for IDSC.
