Shenandoah Motor Express Inc. founded in 1983, operating 80 power units, provides refrigerated foodstuff transportation service in the northeast quarter of the United States. Using Mcleod dispatch software integrated with @Track Communications HighwayMaster on board communication hardware and software to deliver superior transportation service. Shenandoah announced today that they have signed a contract to utilize a decision support tool, Expert FuelŪ, from Integrated Decision Support Corporation of Richardson, Texas.
Expert FuelŪ is integrated directly into the Mcleod and HighwayMaster software, using real-time fuel price information to lower fuel costs by providing an efficient fuel purchase plan to the driver at the time of dispatch.
"Expert Fuel'sŪ use of real-time fuel price information matched with our fuel supplier partners will take the guesswork out of where to buy the lowest cost fuel on each dispatch" said Thomas Stone, President of Shenandoah Motor Express Inc.

Shenandoah Motor Express's decision represents a growing interest in decision support tools in carriers with less than 100 units. It is also evidence that decision support tools are cost justified for motor carriers to utilize an integrated system to reduce fuel costs.
