| Netwise Enterprise® |
|
| The Ultimate Profitability Tool |
|
| Customer Comments: |
| "Since using Netwise we have seen a steady improvement in our operations. Our freight yield—a measure of revenue, cost, equipment efficiency and load balance—increased to 114 in 2003 from 89 in 2001 and average miles per truck rose to 2,575 from 2,382. Net revenue is up 4 cents a mile and loaded revenue added 3.5 cents a mile over the same period. Miles and revenue are important benchmarks because when you run 18 million miles a year, a few cents makes a big difference."—Tim Gatlin, President of Empire ExpressIDSC customer since 2001 |

| What is Netwise Enterprise®? |
| Netwise Enterprise provides the organizational infrastructure or backbone for continuous profitability improvement for the entire organization. Netwise Enterprise supplies executives with a single view of the business so they can be confident in their decision-making and the impact of decisions on long-term growth, company productivity and customer service.Netwise Enterprise is a data mining powerhouse and all encompassing metric that performs queries to resolve critical business issues. The Netwise engine supports the continuous improvement process by focusing on root causes of poor profitability—this enables you to solve problems instead of treating symptoms.
Netwise Enterprise provides a flexible planning solution for establishing scoreboards that provide timely feedback on performance throughout the organization. In addition, Netwise Enterprise provides the framework to establish benchmarks for continuous improvement. Netwise Enterprise generates accelerated results using sophisticated algorithms that identify dedicated opportunities as well as lanes that complement the existing business.Netwise Enterprise identifies root causes of unprofitable freight and provides recommendations to make the freight more profitable by offering guidance throughout the entire organization. Whether Marketing is seeking sales planning assistance, Pricing is looking for help with shipper bid responses or daily pricing action, Operations is searching for ways to improve driver retention, or Finance is looking for a way to analyze mergers and acquisitions—Netwise Enterprise has the answers. |
|
| How does Netwise Enterprise increase revenue and decrease cost? |
| Yield management is the process of managing the freight mix to maximize profits (Which shippers?, Which lanes?, What price?, What volume?). Specific steps of yield management include:
Identifying low or no-profit freight and how to fix it
Identifying high-profit freight and how to get more of it
Identifying ways to improve network balance and profits
Central to this process is the calculation of yield for each load. Yield is network-based margin per load, per day—and is a function of four factors: revenue, cost, time, and balance. A key concept in the yield measurement is the velocity of the movement of the load through the system. The faster the load moves through the system, the higher the margin per day. Focusing on velocity through the system maximizes margin per day for the entire system. It is this simple yet exact calculation that is the foundation upon which the Netwise optimization solutions are engineered.

| How does Netwise Enterprise work? |
| Netwise engineers every process to produce the most profitable load up to the point where the driver gets the work assignment. Netwise also integrates with IDSC’s suite of execution solutions designed to decrease cost in every process from the point where the driver gets the work assignment to final delivery. Netwise extracts information from the dispatch database to build the proprietary data feed. The information is then transferred to the PC workstation where the analysis is performed. A unique feature is that the entire process of data transfer and analysis can be scheduled to happen automatically. |
|
| How is Netwise Enterprise implemented and supported? |
| Netwise Enterprise integrates seamlessly with your existing dispatch and mobile communications systems for fast implementation and for maximizing the return on your technology investments. IDSC offers best-in-class customer support—from implementation, to training, to compliance guidance, to day-to-day issues, to new release roll-outs. Every customer is assigned to a customer account manager to ensure appropriate attention and satisfaction. Online support is also available for documentation downloads, customer forums, and Q & A. The IDSC annual users conference offers several sessions on getting the most out of Netwise, industry-experts speak on current issues, power-users pick up and share tips and tricks and customer’s ideas are collected for future product versions. |
|
| How is Netwise Enterprise different from other solutions? |
| > Cost Analysis & Modeling |
| the most comprehensive and accurate costing system in the industry allowing standard and historical activity-based costing. Netwise Enterprise applies historical and standard costs based on miles, transactions, time, commodity, shipper, consignee, division, trailer and more. Accurate estimation of costs such as trailer pools and tolls is also provided. Integration to the General Ledger is quick and easy. |
| > Historical Analysis |
| provides a precise measurement of profitability for each load which then makes it possible to determine the profitability of each shipper, business segment, etc. Problem loads and shippers are quickly identified along with how to fix the problem. Opportunities to grow and maximize profits become quickly apparent. Scoreboards are generated to guide the entire organization in continuous profit improvement. Establish scoreboards so you can provide timely feedback on performance throughout the organization. |
| > Pricing Simulation |
| automates shipper bid processing. Import and cleanse the data, apply rates and mileage, and analyze and export the bid package in minutes. By dramatically reducing the bid processing time, your employees can focus on winning the freight. It assists in pricing lanes so that they appear attractive to the shipper yet are still very profitable. A unique feature is the integration to the Market Rate Index™ which allows a quick comparison to the average rate currently being charged. Pricing Simulation makes it possible to quickly perform “what if” analysis and see the bottom line impact if rate increases are achieved. |
| > Network Balance Optimization |
| identifies the freight mix that generates the highest margin. It identifies the desirable freight and indicates the desired increase in volume. It identifies the undesirable freight and the desired decrease in volume as well as the required price adjustment necessary to make the freight desirable. It determines the new business (shipper bid) that best compliments your current network so you bid on the right freight in the right volume and at the right price. Sophisticated optimization algorithms identify dedicated schedules and continuous movements. |
