| What is Trip Alert®? |
Trip Alert is a real-time asset tracking solution that precisely monitors vehicles along the entire trip ensuring that the driver is taking the most efficient and safe route to the customer. Asset control optimization is the most technologically advanced approach to systematically reducing out-of-route miles costs. The ability to have visual status of your entire fleet offers additional cost benefits in safety, security, and customer service.
|
| How does it work? |
Trip Alert blends the technology power of your existing dispatch, routing, and mobile communications systems for real-time asset tracking anywhere in the contiguous United States, Canada & Mexico. Trip Alert monitors the receipt of the power unit position update and the trailer position update from the mobile communications system. This, together with all work assignment knowledge, forms the basis for the sophisticated calculations which allow current vehicle locations to be monitored and to forecast future vehicle locations and driver status.
Trip Alert automatically notifies the dispatch manager if a power unit is late or out-of-route.
|
| How will Trip Alert decrease cost? |
Trip Alert produces the most efficient route at the time of dispatch and continuously monitors the vehicle to determine if it goes out-of-route. The minimized out-of-route occurrences translate into substantial savings in fuel, time, and driver & vehicle utilization.
A modest savings scenario is saving $960.00 per truck per year in reduced out-of-route miles. This calculation is based on an average of 200 miles per month in reduced out-of-route miles multiplied by $0.40 variable cost per mile. This equals $80.00 per month, resulting in $960.00 per year. For a fleet of 200 trucks, a total savings of $192,000.00 is realized in one year.
Additional cost efficiencies include:
Maximize asset utilization and prevent service failures
High-tech customer service with proactive notification of late arrival
Driver safety and driver time at home
Proactive swap opportunities
Vehicle safety & security
Monitoring detention
Improved tax refund implications

| What are some of the unique functionality features of Trip Alert? |
Automatic Notification of Out-of-Route & Customer Arrival and Departure Events and Swap Opportunities |
Trip Alert generates alerts based on vehicle position and activity. Vehicle position alerts include: on time / late / projected late, on route / out-of-route, geofence triggers, driver at home, arrive at customer, depart from customer, weather, traffic and more. Vehicle activity alerts include: potential swap opportunities, high / low speed, hours of service violations, excessive idle, failure to report location, no movement, attach / drop trailer and more.
Trip Alert identifies the locations and times when two power units will be feasible to swap load assignments. Trip Alert recommends those swap opportunities which improve utilization, on time performance, and driver home time. Trip Alert provides built-in capabilities to identify candidates for in-transit swaps—leveraging the data to maximize driver and equipment utilization, prevent service failures, and increase driver time at home.

> Robust Reporting |
Trip Alert provides robust real-time and historical reports with drill-down detail. Historical out-of-route reports are available for a user specified date range. These reports display your system-wide out-of-route percentage as well as by driver manager and power unit. Managers are able to double-click on any power unit to retrieve detailed out-of-route information by trip. Company statistics are displayed with key factor information such as: out-of-route miles, actual miles, plan miles, % out-of-route miles, out-of-route miles per trip, number of trips, and average length of haul. Driver manager statistics are displayed with key factor information that includes: power ID, driver manager, out-of-route miles, actual miles, plan miles, % of out-of-route miles, out-of-route miles per trip, number of trips, and average length of haul. Additional reporting capabilities include report wizards that easily generate reports for continuous improvement in the reduction of out-of-route miles and late deliveries.
